Thanks Darien for your previous comments!! Thank God for having such a friend like you...

Anyway, I have lots of 'my' time today for myself... 20 VCDs at one go!! Believe me?? Phew.... watch the whole series of that movie... what a nice show... Hope I won't get addicted when my semester starts next week. Well , tonight can consider my last time to have some time of my own and after this week, nothing left for myself except to study, study and study!! All the subjects have their own difficulties, perhaps having to score on the quizzes, projects and exams! In fact, this is my goal for next year, to achieve a better CGPA compared to this year, which is only a CGPA of 3.5... oOOOO 0.5 marks to go... might need a little bit more of hardwork and effort! =)

Results will be out in 1 day time.... only 1 day time... feelings of nervousness and anxiousness came flooding in my heart...well, i know what best I can do now, that is to PRAY, PRAY and to PRAY to GOD, the Almighty!! Who will be the first that will contact me about my results?? No one?????? Haih.... so cham... 'm just wondering right now...

---->>> Thursday oh Thursday, please come a bit faster, can you?? I really cannot sit here waiting for you anymore!!! Too long already...

To all of you who are reading this entry, pls pls keep me in your prayers!! Very much thank you to you all!!

I'm back here again... Lol :XP! whew... what a coincidence that my computer broke down (by virus and etc) the same time as the day that I stopped blogging. And, now the pc is back into a good condition again! Thanks to super Darien ( a future technician), who managed to reformat the whole pc and I got a desktop environmental surface that I've been longing for that is the XP's edition.... as all these years , I've been using the Windows 98- the lousiest windows I've ever got!! Thank you thank you!! Perhaps, owe you some big choc or something, right? :P or even more than that ar?? So happy now... can play Maple again... can blog again... can do online research again... phew!! It's done!

In fact, my new spring semester is starting soon and OMG, results will be out by this Thursday... Oh no... Time flies!!! As I recalling back what I've done in the past few weeks without much rest, perhaps these holidays is just a waste... Now, I would say that I want MORE - MORE holidays!! Everything will back to a mess again with the subjects that I've plan to take in this coming semester.... *deep breath*

Let's pray that the time will past a bit slower from today onwards until it hits the year of 2005 in a few days time, k?? Hope this will be good enough and I bet it's a wish or a dream that most of friends have been waiting for... come...let us wish upon a star, that is shinning brightly... and yes, that's me... emika is shinning brightly on..... LOL!! :D

A Herbalist Affair

Hey, it had been months searching for this title of this show and at last I've found it. I loved the theme song so much and I wouldn't forget it until the day I leave this earth!..Anyway, let me start off with the brief background story of this chinese drama:

Under the backdrop of a modern glitzy Shanghai cosmopolitan and in the guise of the "westernization" and commercialization of Chinese medicine, "An Herbalist Affair" is a warm light-hearted family centered drama with romantic and comedic plot elements that we have seen many times before. There is the suspicious smart up-and-coming salesman carefully keeping tabs on his sassy secretary/assistant assigned to him who just turns out to be the only daughter of the big boss and owner of the company of he's employed.

Later, their relationship blossoms into an ill-fated "poor boy rich girl" romance. On another front, two young men from different walks in life and culture meet by chance and become the best of friends only to discover that they are truly brothers sharing the same father. We have a career-minded professional doctor who needs some serious defrosting. And in the course of her reconnection to the human spirit and heart, the doctor also falls in love with the salesman. Finally, an idealistic gullible young chef (the younger brother) who is kind, gentle and good in every way falls for a fun-loving wild child dancer. Will he be lead astray by her wicked influences, or instead, become the gallant knight who rescues her back from the dark side? Before we dig deeper into the story, let's get a rundown of the principle characters first....

lol...isn't him handsome ar? Haha... not that handsome gua:P anyway, I don't really pay much attention towards his acting compared to my dearest 'Ah Bee'.... but let us look at what he has played as part of that drama: On the other front in Shanghai, we meet a newcomer to the small screen Lee Ho Lum as Kuk Yat Siu, who plays the perfect example of a filial son - talented in cooking, helpful to others without wanting anything in return, mild-mannered, and full of starry-eyed ideals. As a top chef of a grand Shanghai hotel that Ah Fai was staying during his many business trips there, the two meet when Yat Siu comes out from his kitchen to take away the dish from a very hungry Ah Fai because it did not meet up to Yat Siu's exacting standards. Through a series of chance encounters, the two eventually click, and Ah Fai becomes Yat Siu's first Cantonese speaking friend. Even though Yat Siu is a native Shanghainese, he knows how to speak both dialects, Mandarin and Cantonese fluently since he had been raised by his widowed mother who originally came from Hong Kong. When he learns of Ah Fai's moving quest to fulfill his sick grandfather's last wish, he goes all out to help Ah Fai by rounding up his network of friends and knocking from door to door asking for this mystery lady. As it turns out, they did not need to look very far. In fact, it is Yat Siu's mother who they should be searching for all along.

Years ago, Ah Fai's father, Cheung Wan On, had an illicit affair with Li Sa in which she wound up pregnant with Yat Siu. The father being a "little" man always afraid of confronting issues did nothing. Yet the grandfather, having found out about it, was sympathetic to her plight. He never told anyone the secret because he did not want to break up his son's family. He tried helping Li Sa out when she left for Shanghai, but eventually lost touch with her. This becomes a lingering regret of the grandfather's because he never did more for her and the unborn child.

Kuk Li Sa from the start realizes that "she" is the one Ah Fai was sent to find, but she had changed her name and had long moved out of the neighborhood that they were searching. With her relatively happy and stable life as the head of her own tea restaurant and ill feelings toward the irresponsible man that left her, she hides the truth from the two brothers. In one of the series most comedic moments, Ah Fai who Yat Siu has just invited to stay overnight in their Shanghai flat accidentally knocks over the broken picture plate of Yat Siu's father. As the two young men work to piece the plate back, Ah Fai offhandedly remarks how familiar the eyes were, not realizing that it was actually an old picture of his own father. In duress, Li Sa scolds them frantically to not touch her things, especially her dead husband. Up until that point, Li Sa had always come across as a very nice and soft-spoken mother figure who never raised her voice, so everyone is taken by surprise at her odd reaction. In the end, Yat Siu does find out her secret and goes to Hong Kong to visit the other family he never got to know.

And here comes my favorite actress: Charmaine Sheh...which I used to called her 'Ah Bee'... Let us see part of her account of her story that she played in this drama...

Charmaine as Ah Bee is a bright and optimistic designer who also happens to be the only daughter of a rich and powerful businessman, Ng Sing, the owner of Bo Wor. Having just returned from her fashion studies abroad, she makes a bet with her daddy to see how long she could hold a steady job in their family company. This leads her to become Ah Fai's secretary/assistant. At first, Ah Bee and Ah Fai don't hit it off. Ah Fai gives her the run-around and sends her off on pointless errands to buy this or that snack. It's his way of making sure that she doesn't discover his side business since he believes she's a company spy initially. However, Ah Bee's cheerful attitude, quick wits, and willingness to help others (him especially) soon win him over. A romance between the two develops during their search for the mystery woman in Shanghai. Yet, things change quickly when they head back to Hong Kong and Ah Fai gets fired from his job when his side operation comes to light. He also finds out Ah Bee's true identity and accuses her of snitching on him. Strung out to dry, Ah Fai opens his own company. The two love birds do settle their differences, and Ah Bee goes against her father's wishes to help Ah Fai out both financially and physically. Given their class differences and the ill will Ah Bee's father has against the Cheung family (Ng Sing blames Ah Fai's grandfather - a former famous Chinese doctor - for his wife's death when he refused to treat her terminal kidney problems with Chinese herbal medicine), their match never turns into fruition. Ng Sing plots to break them apart by using every means possible - threats, guilt, even money. Finally, when Ah Fai's older sister runs into huge gambling debts of over $3 million HK, Ah Fai chooses to sacrifice their love in order to borrow the huge sum of money from Ah Bee's father.

Continue... and guess what?? U know who is this, right?? It is Roger Kwok...
Roger as Ah Fai plays a striving ambitious salesperson and department head of Bo Wor Medicine Company, a leading distributor of Chinese herbal remedies and pills in Hong Kong. He jets back and forth from Hong Kong to Shanghai trying to promote the company's products while at the same time uses his contacts and the company's resources to do some peddling and selling of other products to make some money of his own on the side. His best friend, Chi Wah (Chan Kwok Bong), who also works for the company is part of this underground operation as well. Ah Fai starts out as a ruthless and driven Hong Konger whose only desire is to make money. Cynical and opinionated, he has a lethal tongue with a reputation of running his office assistants so ragged that they always wound up quitting on him in a month's time or so. However beneath all the roughness, Ah Fai is a proud but caring individual who does not shy away from responsibilities, especially towards his family. When his grandfather, Cheung Si Sang, gets a stroke and falls into a coma, Ah Fai drops everything and goes on a frantic search for a mystery woman in Shanghai in order to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish.

Hey... I'm back to ICM's office again!!--- My 2 loving pastors that I loved a lot and Sis. Bee, my BIG sister... so cute and nice of her! Read the below's account of the happenings today! Cheerio to both the pastors and friends at the ICM!! Yay!!=)

emiko shinning brightly at 11:59 PM

Well, it has been awhile since I've last attended the ICM's prayer meeting and today, I'm back to the ICM office again after a few months when Rev.Deborah and Rev.Cornelio went back to U.S.A in the Summer and they are now back to M'sia again.... I'm so blessed to have them around here again.

This evening, when I reached the ICM's office, I'm in a shocked as the whole environment has changed! Guess what? It was a dark room, with little bulbs lighting and it was so cozy! In front of me was Rev.Cornelio and the other 2 guys praying and I stood there not knowing what to do. But, I heard some nice praise and worship music that was played at the room next to where the others' were praying. So, I went straight into the room, sat there and have the most wonderful time ever! I sang along with the mp3 that was played in that dark-cozy room... so romantic, isn't it??

After a couple of minutes in that room, Rev. Deborah came back (not sure where) to the office again and I waved at her in that dark room, hoping that she could see me and thank God, she saw me and she waved back at me and she took bigger steps to reached the room that I was in. She gave me a warm hug that I didn't get to received for months. She kissed me and said,"My dear sweetheart, you're back here again and I miss you a lot! I love you, Cindy!" I was so touched by her greetings and, I gave her a big hug in return after that. She was in a state of surprise that I've sounded so different this time, with a cheerful and bubbly voice- that was the joy of the Lord that was upon me! Hallelujah!

Straight after that chat, Rev.Cornelio ended his prayers at the same time and saw me...and he said,"Oh, my precious child... you're here!! Wow... your eyes are glowing and so are you! Have been missing you all these while, my little lamb!" Then, he hugged and kissed me both my cheeks in front of his wife (Rev.Deborah) and I was so touched.

Furthermore, to be back in ICM for prayer meeting is a blessing for me that I could pray a list of things that was stated, especially praying for the nations... for a time of harvest and a breakthrough in the year of 2005! Let the seeds be sowed and let the Lord transformed our nations! Amen??

While I was talking to Rev. Deborah, his husband called in and said that he wanted to have fellowship with me in his room that was somewhere opposite Rev.Deborah's room. So, with a heavy heart, leaving Rev.Deborah and headed to Rev.Cornelio's room, I sat there and have a chat with him. We chatted as long as the time permits before the prayer meeting starts. We went on chatting until 7 p.m and then we left for the prayer meeting. Before leaving, Rev. Cornelio prayed for me and God's annointing was on me. What a relief after that!

As the prayer meeting started sharp at 7 p.m, Christmas carols was being sang and that was wonderful enough to help me to have a sense of X'mas that is coming nearer and I really have a great time at that time! Haven't been singing X'mas carols for 2 years since I last left NLRC. Then, all of us sat down and have a time of introduction to the new comers:their first time to ICM's prayer meeting. Getting to know them is a tremendous blessings and to have them around with us is a great joy! And not to forget, Sis. Bee is a chairperson for today's prayer meet and she looks so cute in her pink 'baju kurung'. She's a bubbly young lady that I often get in touched with and she is also the first one that I first met during my first visit to ICM's office!

Before we break into smaller groups, with ladies in the rooms and the guys at the outside rooms, Sis. Bee shared with us what we need to pray for and as far I could remember... there were 5 things that were being stated in her list with the guide from Rev.Deborah. The 5 prayer items were: 1. the ICM's Newsletter 2. the ICM's annual thanksgiving night on the 8th Jan 2005 3. ICM's leadership 4. All the X'mas activities that were being held on the Christmas day throughout the country 5. Preparation and etc.

As I mentioned earlier, we were then break into smaller groups and I was in Rev. Deborah's group and yes, I got a chance to pray for the ICM's annual thanksgiving night as I'll be going there for that event too!! I really can't wait to be there... will be helping out in the decoration as well =)

At about 8.30 p.m, we finished praying and we went out to join the guys for a time of sharing... This is the time that I have waited for and here's my chance to share with all of them about my grandma who has accepted Christ a few months ago and when she got baptized yesterday. I believed by sharing this great and wonderful work of God will increased the others' faith as times passed by! Well, I did shared this with Rev. Cornelio during the fellowship earlier and he's the one who has encouraged me to share it in the meeting later - so I did!! Thank God for his grace and mercy for giving me the courage to share in this large group of His people!!

The meeting then proceed with a time for teachings where Rev. Cornelio talked about the meaning for this Christmas and I realized that the root or the basis of this Christmas is all about love, joy and peace. I've learnt that Christmas is not a time to enjoy ourselves but a time to remember that what we can give to others is again the 3 things, that is love , joy and peace. For instance, we have love, we should pour out this love to others. If we have peace, let us pour out this peace with others. There's no point to join others who are depressed and lonely by becoming depressed and lonely but to show our love, joy and peace to them. As the bible says, "Do not return evil for evil." That was the main teaching throughout that time... So, people... remember this, yeah??

The meeting ended with a closing in prayers and then and again, Rev. Cornelio and Rev. Deborah gave me a big, big hug ... and not to forget their kisses..... Wow... they have been a loving pastors since the time I got to know both of them... I really prayed that God will use them even more mightily in time to come and may God's blessing poured unto them more and more!! Thank God by giving me this 2 loving pastors and I'm looking forward to see them again in the next meeting:27th Dec... Love ya' lots, pastors and I wouldn't forget your care and love for me! And so is God!

Got a 'free' ride back from Bro. Choo... and got home about 11 p.m... Thank you lots!! =)

O-yasumi nasai... =.=

Missing all of my friends so much and in this very joyous Christmas, my wish is to.....******** ----> guess what? Wishing that I can meet up with all of my 'old' 'old' friends that I have not met for so many years! -.-

But is that what Christmas is all about? Perhaps, in order to make this Christmas a meaningful Christmas is not about meeting 'old' friends and etc. but it's all about JESUS!! Agree?? =)

Christmas Meaning...

In the popular Hi and Lois comic strip, the writer often puts into words what is in the mind of the little baby girl who is the pride of the family. During a comic strip that appeared during the Christmas season, the little girl is pictured as thinking, "I sure do love Christmas, boy do I love Christmas. I don't know what it's all about yet, but I sure do love it."

Many are in the same boat as this little girl. They enjoy Christmas, but they just don't know what it's all about. Think how much more enjoyment they would receive if they understood the full significance of Christmas! The significance of this holiday is embodied in the words of some angels who said, "for today in the City of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11). ---Adapted from Heartlight.org

Make Every Day Like Christmas
by Joseph Mazella

And may the Lord make your love grow and overflow to each other and to everyone else, just as our love overflows toward you. (1 Thessalonians 3:12 NLT)

We received the first snow of the season today. It wasn't even an inch of snowfall, yet it turned the mountains into a beautiful, crystal-white paradise. I enjoyed being outside and feeling the cold, brisk air blowing the flakes around. Our Saint Bernard, Buddy, was a delight to watch as he literally jumped for joy in the snow as my daughter walked him. My heart warmed as I thought of the Christmas season to come with all of its gifts of peace, goodwill, kindness, laughter, joy, and love. I wished that every day could be Christmas Day. Then I remembered that each day can be like Christmas Day if we choose to make it so.

After all, God's love for us isn't just limited to one day a year. God's love is with us everyday. It never wavers. It never fades. His love for us is joyous and eternal just as the life He promises us is joyous and eternal. Why should our love be any different? Why should our greatest gifts of goodness, kindness, and joy just be limited to one day a year?

Do your best to make everyday more like Christmas.

Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol calls Christmas, "A good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely."

I hope that one day as everyone in this world learns to better choose and share love and joy that these feelings will not be limited to one time of the year. As everyone in this world learns to grow in oneness with God, I pray that the Christmas Spirit will last all throughout the year. As everyone in this world learns to live as God intended for us to live, each day can become more like Christmas Day.

May all of you have a Merry Christmas. May your hearts be full of love and good cheer. May your souls sing with joy and oneness with God. And may you always, with every choice you make, do your best to make every day more like Christmas Day.

Indeed, your love is already strong toward all the Christians in all of Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we beg you to love them more and more. (1 Thessalonians 4:10 ) ---Adapted from Heartlight.org

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong".
---Mahatma Ghandi

To forgive
Is not to forget.
To forgive
Is really to remember
That nobody is perfect
That each of us stumbles
When we want so much to stay upright
That each of us says things
We wish we had never said
That we can all forget that love
Is more important than being right.
To forgive is really to remember
That we are so much more
Than our mistakes
That we are often more kind and caring
That accepting another's flaws
Can help us accept our own.
To forgive is to remember
That the odds are pretty good that
We might soon need to be forgiven ourselves.
That life sometimes gives us more
Than we can handle gracefully.
To forgive is to remember
That we have room in our hearts to
Begin again
And again,
And again.
And again!

Let me start this life anew again with this coming New Year 2005...whee!!! I guess most of you are looking forward for this very coming New Year, right?? Same here... forgiveness will be the first thing that comes to my mind, followed by my new motivation to study and excel better from time to time, good EQ, nice birthday party in early January and yes...celebrating my early 20s next year!!

Well, I really can't imagine what is it like to be 20... really!! teens stage have passed without much good memories but I really believe that the coming years in the 20s will be a good and a better one indeed!! No matter what, life is still as precious as it is... no matter how dark the circumstances are!! Make the full use of the life and the future that God has install it for me and that will be good enough... Getting to the higher hierachy in the Maslow's hierachy of needs will be a tough one as having to go through one stage by one stage in order to achieve the highest level: self-actualizing!!

Having said that, perhaps looking back at the past 19 years that I've been through, there's not so much about special or good memories except for achieving so-called 'brilliant' results in the college exams for the past 2 years-- guess that would be the most memorable one and not to forget, getting to know so many positive friends that are not willing to give up encouraging me to move on for this past 2 years have been also a great motivation for me that kept me going and the lecturers at HELP too: they have non- stop giving me the moral support nor stop pouring out their efforts in their superb/'brilliant' teachings, giving me the emotional and moral support that guide me to have a better well-being and excelling in my exams as well as my studies!

Sending my 'precious' gratitude and a bunch of "Thank You" to all of you that has been continuing giving me the support and telling me that, "YES, I CAN DO IT" ^.^ and these shows that you guys have so much faith in me that has make me to indeed to have some faith and confidence in myself, especially when I was going through this very tough semester with 3 PSYC Papers and the other 2 electives.

Thank You once again, everyone!!!! And thank God also for His loving care and guidance for me throughout my years of studies. T__T
